Barbara “Barb” Ann Treutelaar, age 78, of Neenah and formerly of DePere, passed away on April 23, 2021 at Rennes of Appleton. Barb was born October 14, 1942 to the late Otto and Gladys (Niles) Knapke. She was a graduate of Custer High School in Milwaukee, Class of 1961. On August 17, 1963 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Wayne Treutelaar and they enjoyed over 50 years together before he preceded her in death. She was employed as a legal secretary for many years until she retired.
Barb loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren knew her as “Grandma Camping”. She was a fun-loving woman who loved to play Cribbage, Sheepshead, and almost any other game you can imagine. She was also an avid bowler and loved to sew. She liked doing puzzles and every Christmas present she wrapped looked like a decoration. You almost hated to open them.
She loved to travel and was able to see much of North America, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. In 2000 Barb and Wayne sold their home in De Pere and purchased a 5th Wheel. Her time with Wayne created cherished memories and they found many new friends as they travelled.
She will be sadly missed by: daughter Sara (Richard) Cops of Appleton and their children Rachel and Jacob, son Andrew (Amy) Treutelaar of Oconomowoc, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Wayne.
In accordance with Barb’s wishes, there will be no funeral services held. To express condolences, please visit www.wichmannfuneralhomes.com.
The family would like to express a thank you to the staff and nurses at Rennes Health and Rehab of Appleton and Island Shores Retirement Community for helping make Barb’s last few years happy. Also thank you to the folks at ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the care given to Barb.
