Barbara Ann Schmitz

Barbara Ann Schmitz neé Heruth passed away on October 18, 2021. Barbara was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on May 14, 1932 to Ruth V. Waltzer Heruth and Albert E. Heruth. In 1954 she married Richard Ralph Schmitz, her husband for 46 years.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and devoted her life to raising and nurturing her five children: Kurt R. Schmitz (Kazue), Columbus Georgia, Kristi R. Schrampfer (Kurt), Stuart P. Schmitz (Lori), Steven J. Schmitz (Michelyn) (all of Appleton), and Allan E. Schmitz (Connie), Hartland, WI. She was always there to help in any way, and could always be counted on with her loving presence and assistance.

Barb had a “green thumb” and loved flowers and plants of all kinds. She always had something growing at home, inside and out. She was an animal lover, and especially adored the cats and dogs that kept her company over the years.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Richard; parents Ruth and Albert; brothers Leslie, Richard, and Ronald, and grandson Eric. She is survived by her children, ten grandchildren (Anthony, Emily, Paul, Kate, Marie, David, Hannah, Anna, Mark, and Katherine), and two great grandchildren (Caleb and Eleanor).

A memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha, WI 54952, with visitation from 10:00- 11:00 a.m.
