Age 53, died Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2001, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 5, 1947, to the late Clifford and Alice (DeWall) Schwab in Appleton, where she was a resident all of her life. Barbara graduated from Xavier High School in 1966 and attended Fox Valley Technical College and a school in Milwaukee for modeling and fashion design. She was employed by Appleton Medical Center and by Liz O’Donnell and Haysam El-Dalati, M. D. as a nanny and caregiver, until ill health forced her retirement. Barbara enjoyed gardening, golf, bears, flowers, decorating and spending time with her grandson Matthew. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Survivors include her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dan and Lisa Wilharms, Appleton; Sean Schwab, and his special friend, Kim VanDeHei, Appleton; a grandson, Matthew Wilharms; two brothers and a sister-in-law, her twin, Bill and Barbara Schwab and their children, Sara (Dan) Kowalke and Andy Schwab, Appleton; Richard Schwab, Appleton; special friends, Lil Schmoll, Kitty and Ted Heidke, Patty and Dan Siehr, Carol Van Eperen, Lynn Miller, George and Peggy Holzknecht, Liz O’Donnell and Haysam El-Dalati, M. D. and their sons, Benny and Sammy, and Greg Nelson. A memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, September 6, 2001 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am, Thursday, until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to thank VNA for their care and support, especially, Sheila, Suzi, Kathy and Lisa and her special friends and relatives, Kim, Bill, Barb, Kitty, and Lil, for their care.
