Avis Jean Whitworth, 83, passed away peacefully in her room at Century Oaks in Appleton Wisconsin, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Jean was born October 20, 1939 in Gray Summit, Missouri. Jean was the daughter of the late Francis and Lucille Ringkamp. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bob Whitworth, her son, Robert Whitworth, her twin, Joan Morris, and son in-law, Bobby Sheehan. She is survived by her loving children, Joan (Lance) Kelley, daughter in-law Julie Whitworth, Jim (Beth) Whitworth, Kris Sheehan, and Shawn (Denise) Whitworth. Jean is also survived by her younger sisters, Marylynn (Larry) Viehmann and Karen (Jeff) LaClair, and nephew J. D. Morris. Jean is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, their spouses, and 11 great grandchildren.
Jean was best known for her love of children. For over 30 years she was a gifted elementary school teacher, investing into the lives of countless children. Jean especially loved her grandchildren. Whether it was baking treats together in the kitchen, making crafts in her extensive craft room, visiting the library to check out armfuls of books, or having “tea parties”. Jean always knew how to make each of her grandkids feel special and loved. Jean also loved dogs and passed this passion on to her children and grandchildren. Jean was a woman of great faith, founded on her love of Jesus Christ. She modeled to those around her what being a true believer looked like, attending church, staying in the Word, counseling others, and showing Christ’s love. To the very end, when it seemed like there was nothing else she could do, she prayed – praying for family friends, and every care worker that came into her room.
