Age 87, formerly of Peoria, Arizona and Oshkosh, WI, died on Monday, June 28, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born on February 9, 1917 in Oshkosh, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Embs) Ostertag. Arthur married Frances Crane on September 6, 1941 in St. John Catholic Church in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on August 20, 1998. Arthur retired from Lenox Candle Company in Oshkosh in 1979. He and Frances then moved to Peoria, Arizona. Arthur was a member of St. Joachim and St. Ann Catholic Churches in Sun City, Arizona and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include three sons Michael (Carla) Ostertag of Oshkosh, Joseph Ostertag of Clayton, Georgia, and Arthur (Karen) Ostertag of Appleton; one daughter Teresa Ostertag of Little Chute; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; one brother Frank Ostertag of Oshkosh; three sisters Agnes Fattor of Arizona, Dolores Nawrocki of California, and Jane Panske of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Frances and his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Sandy; three sisters: Marie Schumann, Lucille Carroll, and Gertrude Hayes; and one brother Walter Ostertag.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted on Friday, July 2, 2004 at 5:00 PM at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 216 West South Park Avenue in Oshkosh with the Rev. William Van DeKreeke officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends after the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
