Arthur F. “Art” Mueller, age 83, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, following a short illness. Arthur was born December 4, 1921, in Appleton, the son of the late Herbert and Amanda Mueller. He was united in marriage to Irene Schleitweiler on May 30, 1941. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1996. They were married for more than 50 years, and Arthur missed her deeply when she passed away.
Art was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre with the United States Air Force. He attained the rank of sergeant, and was honorably discharged following V-Day after completing his tour of duty from the 101st Division. Following his return to Wisconsin, he went back to his position at Kimberly-Clark in Kimberly, Wisconsin. He worked for them until Kimberly-Clark sold to Midtec, and stayed with Midtec until his retirement. Art loved dogs and cats, was an avid gardener, especially growing his roses, and enjoyed woodworking and painting. He also was an amateur photographer.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (William “John”) Ollila, of Appleton, and Jean (Jim) Troy, of Whitehall, Penn; a proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Chuck Clark and Bill Ollila, Jr., both of Appleton, and Jerry Roegner and Jackie Troy, both of Pennsylvania; one of seven siblings, Art is survived by two brothers, Alvin (Mariane) Mueller and Harold Mueller, all of Appleton; a sister-in-law, Blanche Mueller; and 15 nieces and nephews. Arthur was preceded in death by his sisters, Adeline and Delores, and his brothers, Raymond and Walter.
Funeral services for Art will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, with Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services directly at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established.
