Armand Reinke, age 78, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 29, 2007. Armand was born in Marathon City, Wisconsin, on July 6, 1929, son of the late Edward and Frieda (Palmer) Reinke. He graduated from the Marion High School in 1947 and then served two years in the United States Army as a tank commander in the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the Army, he married the former Beverly Peterson on March 3, 1953. Armand worked as an installer and glazer for Hoffer Glass in Appleton for some twenty years. When his good friend Bob Much opened Dale Glass, Armand jumped on that opportunity and worked in “Muchville” for twenty additional years. Armand enjoyed traveling to various destinations, including Gulf Shores, Alabama, Hawaii, Montana, DisneyWorld, and Las Vegas. Many will remember Armand as a very well read man; when he was done with the daily paper, he could tell you what was going on – everywhere! He was also a passionate and devoted Packer fan who held season tickets for fifty years. So devoted was he, that even if the Packers were losing and the snow was flying and the family was cold, leaving early was never an option!
Survivors include his wife: Beverly Reinke of Appleton; three beloved children: Mike Reinke of Appleton; Connie (Wally) Stelzer of Pewaukee; and Tom (Peihua) Reinke of Pewaukee. He had a wonderful relationship with his grandsons, and always took a great interest in all five of their activities. He would beam when they would call, or had the opportunity to see them. He will be missed by Andy, Brad, and Kevin Stelzer, as well as Ian and Ethan Reinke.
He also leaves behind a special sister: Elaine Olson of Appleton; as well as several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Erin Peterson of Green Bay, Joyce (Jack) Smith of Green Bay, Shirley Knitt of St. Germain, Jackie (Dick) Dittloff of DePere, and Ron (Carol) Peterson of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers-in-law: Clarence Olson, Ralph Peterson, and Bill Knitt.
Funeral services for Armand will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street in Appleton with Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has established memorial funds at Theda Care at Home Hospice and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Wisconsin.
“Dad, Papa, AC: To the world you may be one, but to one you may be the world. You were that world to all of us. Because of your Christian faith and confidence in Jesus’ promises, you will continue to soar in heaven.”
