Arliss Leitzke, age 78, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Arliss was born in Oshkosh on August 21, 1927, daughter of the late Earl and Esther (Nelson) Granberg. After attending high school and business college, she married E. Milton Leitzke in July of 1947. He preceded Arliss in death in 1984. Arliss was a longtime and faithful member of Appleton Alliance Church, and enjoyed reading, gardening, puzzles, and volunteer work. Over the years she volunteered at church and throughout the community, and also worked as a housekeeper in several area private residences.
Survivors include five children: Steven (Alegria) Leitzke of Appleton; Cathleen (Jerome) Mirek of Appleton; Bruce (Mary) Leitzke of Greenville; Susan (Richard) Walbrun, Jr. of Menasha; and David Leitzke of Appleton; eight grandchildren: Shawn (Tanya) Mirek, Joshua Mirek, Brandon Leitzke and his special friend Stephanie, Andrew Leitzke, Matthew Leitzke, Philip (Lori) Walbrun, Elizabeth Walbrun and her fiancé Paul Conto, and Benjamin Walbrun; a great-grandson: Orion Walbrun; two sisters: Diane (Harvey) Hartman and Barbara (Roy “Bud”) Gabrielson, both of Oshkosh; and a sister-in-law: Eda Mae Hendrickson of Hortonville. Other survivors include additional in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Arliss was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1984, sons Paul and Larry, and a grandson Christopher Leitzke.
Funeral services for Arliss will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 15, 2006 at APPLETON ALLIANCE CHURCH, 2693 W. Grand Chute Boulevard in Appleton with Rev. Richard Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again at the church on Monday after 10:00 AM.
