Annelise Jensen died on April 28, 2023 at age 94 in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born on April 7, 1929 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Annelise was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Copenhagen during WWII. She graduated University with a teaching degree and taught school in Denmark for several years. She married A. Kristian Jensen in 1951. They immigrated to the US from Denmark in 1952. They settled in Houghton/Hancock Michigan, where they welcomed five children and proudly became US citizens. They moved to Appleton, WI in 1963 and lived happy, busy lives. Kris preceded Annelise in death in 2013.
Annelise was devoted to her family and friends. She supported her family and their many activities and loved having her family and friends around her, whether in Appleton or at the family Summerhouse. She enjoyed and valued many friendships that continued until her passing.
Annelise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fox Valley Embroiderers’ Guild, Scandinavian Sewing Club and Fortnightly Book Club. Annelise’s talents and interests included designing and sewing clothing, embroidery, knitting, music, golf, and swimming. Many Danish traditions, including knitting and making aebleskiver and kransekage, were passed along to her children and grandchildren.
Annelise was predeceased by her husband A. Kristian Jensen, son Peter and his wife Susan. She is survived by her children Helen (Dave), Alice (Tom), Karen (Rich), Erick (Mary Jo), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews in Denmark.
Annelise and her family are so grateful for the many years of kind care given by the entire staff at the Heritage, Home Instead and most recently Cherry Meadows.
