Age 91, passed away Friday, January 11, 2003 at Care Partners in Little Chute. Anna was born in Catherine City, Russia on October 29, 1911, daughter of the late Andreas and Anna (Herwald) Schmidt. On April 24, 1935 she married Alfred H. Smith; he preceded her in death in 1997. Anna was a longtime area resident and was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks.
Survivors include three daughters: Elizabeth (John) Smits of Combined Locks; Mary Jo Smith of Altemonte Springs, Florida; Theresa Smith of Altemonte Springs, Florida; a son: Edward (Karen) Smith of Combined Locks; five grandchildren: Sandra (Richard) Bast; Kristie Smits; James (Carol) Smits; Jill (Paul) Schaumberg; Michael (Christine) Smith; two great-grandchildren: Courtney and Matthew Schaumberg; five step-great-grandchildren: Alexander Wilsey; Savanna (Greg) Bushman; Stephanie, Steven, and Samantha Birr; a sister: Esther Rahn of Green Bay; and three sisters-in-law: Marie Schmidt of Racine; Lucille Schmidt of Seymour; and Elsie Schmidt of DePere. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, a sister Katie (Jake) Sigl, brothers Fred Schmidt, Alex (Anna) Schmidt, David Schmidt, and Andrew (Violet) Schmidt; and a brother-in-law Bill Rahn.
The funeral liturgy for Anna will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2003 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combined Locks with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the hour of the services.
Anna’s stay at Care Partners was brief, but the family would like to thank the entire staff for their care, compassion, and genuine concern. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
