Age 99, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at a local nursing center. Anna was born in Appleton on July 13, 1903, daughter of the late Gustave and Anna Schaefelke. On June 24, 1923, she married Victor Hartzheim; he preceded her in death in April of 1974. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and bingo, making quilts for her family and friends, and watching game shows on television.
Anna is survived by her daughter: Elaine Lillge of Appleton; her son: Jack Hartzheim of Harrison; a sister: Alice Becker of Appleton; as well as by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mark (Georgia) Lillge of Appleton and their sons Justin and Jason; Drew (Minnie) Lillge of Appleton and their daughter Ashley; Mary (Dick) Brock of Appleton and their children Andy, Ross, and Katie; Kevin (Patricia) Lillge of Appleton and their daughters Brittany and Maria; John (Jane) Hartzheim of Appleton and their children Amy (Ron) Schuh, J.J., and Adam Hartzheim; Vicki (Ron) Fritz of Eagan, Minnesota and their children Tina, Ryan, and Scott (Jennifer) Fritz; Laurie ({Pat) Doule of Appleton and their children Kelly, Erin, and Shannon; Betsy Hartzheim of Appleton and her son Zachary; and Carol (Freddy) Ramirez of Appleton and their daughter Cori. Anna is further survived by her great-great-grandchildren: Jacob and Ian Schuh, Hannah Fritz, and Kailey and Carlos Jr., as well as by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Kurt Hartzheim, a son-in-law Loren Lillge, and daughter-in-law Delores Hartzheim, sisters Frieda Reddin, Harriet Brandt Jesson, Lucille Schenk, and Lillian Schaefelke; brothers Henry, Ben, and William Schaefelke, and a brother-in-law Bill Becker.
The funeral liturgy for Anna will be held at 11: OO AM on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Morrison Street at Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. Interment will be at Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9 AM until the hour of the liturgy. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Anna’s name has been established.
