Age 77, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Kimberly, passed away Monday, December 27, 2004, at the Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah. She was born March 2, 1927, in Grand Chute, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Anna M. (nee Koestler) Demerath. She married Earl J. Van Hammond on July 2, 1949, at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Ann was a homemaker, and moved to New Mexico in 1992. She was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque, and served as president of the Marionites, a group of parishioners that serves the homebound. She was a volunteer at the Right To Life Clinic, and helped prepare meals for the homeless. Ann was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, William Verhagen Unit 60, of Kimberly.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Pointer, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Daniel J. (Vickie) Van Hammond, of Arkdale, Wis. and Tony (Cathy) Van Hammond, of Appleton, Wis.; there are seven grandchildren, Joseph, Christine, David, Samuel, (Tressy), Jacob, Amber, and Bethany; three sisters, Rita (Leo) Bogenschutz, of Boulder, Colo., Theresa Sears, of Kimberly, and Betty (David) Maas, of Appleton, Wis.; and six brothers, Francis Demerath, of Little Chute, Joe Demerath, of Janesville, Wis., Mike (Dee) Demerath, of Seymour, Wis., Pete (Gerry) Demerath, of Appleton, Leon (Rosalee) Demerath, of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Al Demerath, of Marinette, Wis. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earl Van Hammond, two grandchildren, Adam Pointer and Baby Van Hammond, and two sisters, Edith Fulcer and Mary Vander Wyst.
The funeral liturgy for Ann will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2004 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund in Ann’s name is being established.
