ANITA MARIE WIECKERT

Age 100, died Monday, September 30, 2002, at Peabody Manor. Anita was born on January 11, 1902, in the Town of Grand Chute to the late Albert and Mary (Holterman) Brockman. She married Walter H. Wieckert on February 22, 1922, in Appleton; he preceded her in death in 1975. Anita had been active in the Wide Awake 4-H Club, County Homemakers, as a Pink Lady at Appleton Memorial Hospital, American Kennel Club (Borzoi breed), Mary Church Circle and “The Quilters” at First English Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Marion Pratt, Carlton “Kelly” (Betty) Wieckert, Marguerite Wiegand, David (Joan) Wieckert, Walter B. G. (Beverly) Wieckert; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her dear friend and neighbor Emmie Sternitzke. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Ernst and Alice Wieckert; sons-in-law, Charles Pratt and John W. Wiegand; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be on at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2002, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton (the corner of East North Street and Drew Street) with Rev. J. Christian Quello officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again Saturday directly at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial to benefit the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region has been established. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Peabody Manor and her many friends and family who visited her there.
