Amy Jo Melendes

Amy Jo (Laux) Melendes passed away February 11, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Central High School in 1990 and received her BS from Devry University in Chicago.

Amy enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, photography, and was always sure to have 2-3 books going at a time.

She is survived by the love of her life, husband of 24 years, Scott Melendes; daughters Katie Rose (Brad) Rainbolt and Casey Jean Melendes; brother Kevin (Lashonda) Laux, Josh and Jaden Laux, and sister in law Julie Laux; Troy (Teri) Melendes, Devin, Chase, Lucas, and Tegan; Mark (Charissa) Melendes, Elsie and Rowyn, Ona Melendes, Ronik and Meera, parents in law Bill and Ellen Melendes and various other family and friends.

Amy was preceded in death by her father David Laux, her mother Judy Laux (Keifer), paternal grandparents Gordon and Rose (Gerrity) Laux, her maternal grandparents Leonard and Della (Olson) Keifer, as well as other family members.

A funeral service will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, 1592 S Oneida, Fox Crossing on Saturday February 17 at 12:00pm. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 9:00am until the service starts.
