Amy Lynn Towner, 36, of Appleton entered eternal life on February 7, 2016, following a twelve year battle with cancer. She was born on November 2, 1979, to Thomas and Susan Towner. She was made a child of God through holy baptism on November 25, 1979. Amy graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School and Martin Luther College with a degree in elementary education and staff ministry. She was currently employed by Thrivent Financial.
Throughout her life, Amy showed her Christian faith in service to others, touching the hearts and lives of many. For several years she coordinated the WELS Singles group in the Fox Valley. Recently she served on the board of the Hope Center in Appleton. She sang with the Praise Family Choir in Neenah and Joyful Noise at Mount Olive in Appleton. Amy volunteered with the Big Brother, Big Sister program and enjoyed spending many hours with her little sister.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jack Towner and Morton Schroeder, and her step-grandfather, Oscar Siegler, as well as her aunts, Sarah Fillner and Karen Schroeder, and her cousins, Jeff Schroeder and Carl Schroeder. She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Susan Towner of Appleton, and her brother, Joel Towner of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Myrtle Siegler and Bettie Schroeder, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Amy will be held Saturday, February 13 at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Pastor Robert Raasch and Pastor Kenneth Frey officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, and again on Saturday at Mount Olive from 9:30 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Olive Lutheran School, Fox Valley Lutheran High School, or Camp Phillip in Wautoma, WI, for tuition assistance or to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Fox Valley. The family would like to thank everyone who has supported us with their prayers, love, and help during the past years.
