Alton Danke, age 81 of Greenville, passed away at his home on Saturday afternoon, August 18, 2018. Alton was born in New London on May 11, 1937, son of the late Leonard and Ethel (Dorrow) Danke. On October 20, 1962, he married Barbara Ashauer at St. Mary’s Church in Greenville, and together the couple celebrated fifty-five wonderful years together.
Alton enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing, caring for his garden, travel, country music and dancing, and most of all – spending time with his grandchildren.
Alton is survived by his wife: Barb Danke of Greenville; two daughters: Tami (Terry) Sperstad of Colorado and Sandi (Chris) La Stofka of New London; two grandchildren: Mary (Ryan) Finnegan of Colorado and Danny Chapman of California. There are also two sisters: Donna (David) Pagel of Neenah and Elvera Kent of Greenville. Alton is also survived by Barb’s family: Pat (Bill) Griesbach of Black Creek, Dennis (Susie) Ashauer of Greenville, Bonnie Ashauer of Greenville, Marilyn (Cedric) Martin of Hortonville, and Ed (Dawn) Ashauer of Hortonville. Alton was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son Timothy, five brothers, and four sisters.
The funeral liturgy for Alton will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 24, 2018 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, N2385 Municipal Drive in Greenville, with Fr. Michael Warden officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
