SHEARIER, ALOHA V.
Aloha Shearier, of Appleton, age 87 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2007. She was born March 2, 1920 in Almond, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Susannah Walter. Aloha grew up and attended school in Almond, where she graduated valedictorian, class of 1938. After high school she attended UW-Stevens Point majoring in English and French, which she taught in the Plainfield school system following her graduation in 1942. On September 3, 1944, Aloha married Earl L. Shearier and they moved to Chicago, IL. On conclusion of Earl’s defense R & D work at Western Electric following the war, the couple moved to Appleton to raise a family. During this time she became an active member of Appleton’s First Baptist Church, serving the Lord as pianist, organist and Sunday school teacher. In 1965, the family moved to Coos Bay, Oregon where she developed a life-long interest in watercolor painting. After a two year stay in Oregon, Aloha and her family moved back to the Appleton area where she later took on several jobs, retiring from a position with the State of Wisconsin in 1985.
She is survived by her daughter: Kay S. Shearier, Appleton; son: Richard C. (Lori K.) Shearier, Appleton; special granddaughter: Rebecca “Rebie” S. Shearier; brother: Richard L. (Lucille) Walter, Oconomowoc and niece: Pat (Ron) Ruegg, Oconomowoc. Aloha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl Shearier and brother Chester Walter.
Friends may call at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME on Monday, May 14, 2007 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Private family services for Aloha will be held at a later date.
Aloha was a rare person whose special sense of love, grace, tact and diplomacy made the world a richer place. All who have had the privilege of being touched by her will miss her deeply.
