Allyn Seemann, of Appleton, age 87 years, died on Friday, February 23, 2007 at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. He was born January 1, 1920 in Lewiston, Minnesota the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Dorn) Seemann. Allyn grew up in Lewiston until he enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1941. Near the end of his military service he moved to Appleton to guard the POW’s. Here he met his future wife of 56 years at an USO dance. On September 8, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton, Genevieve Rath became his bride. Allyn was employed at Kools Brothers Inc., where he started as a welder and retired in 1985 as the vice president of manufacturing. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Johnston-Blessman Post 338 – American Legion and Harvey Pierre Post #2778 – Veterans of Foreign Wars. Allyn was an avid former Appleton Foxes fan and Director and later was on the Board of Directors for the Timber Rattlers. He loved to bowl, throw horseshoes and go fishing up to the age of 83 years, when ill health and cancer ended his enjoyment.
He is survived by his loving wife: Genevieve “Gen” Seemann, Appleton; children: Sharon (Barry) Moore, Mitchelville, Maryland; Jeffery (Sherry) Seemann, Fredonia; Marcee Bogan, Kaukauna and Robert Seemann, Mt. Morris; grandchildren: Julie O’Connor, Craig (Jessica) Seemann, Christopher and Maggie Bogan; great-grandchildren: Hailey O’Connor and Daden Seemann and his niece: Sandra Seemann, Washington State. Allyn was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Sherer, brothers Willard and Harland Seemann and his son-in-law Dan Bogan.
The funeral service for Allyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton with Rev. Kenneth L. Frey officiating. Emtombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
