Alice Betty Yohr nee Schneiderwendt, age 86, passed away on May 14, 2024, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. She was born November 22, 1937, in the town of Union (Symco) the daughter of the late Louis and Emma (Miller) Schneiderwendt. On July 13, 1956, she married Arlyn Yohr at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
She was employed by Strum, Manawa from June to July 1956. IN July 1956, she moved to Appleton and began her career as a turner and brusher at Zwicker Knitting Mills. After taking some time off to start a family, she returned to Zwicker where she worked until her retirement in 1990.
Alice enjoyed working with individuals with challenges, assisting as a scout leader and also cared for neighborhood children. In her free time, she planted gardens, raised dogs and enjoyed all types of animals and birds. There was always something of a zoo in her home.
She is survived by her children: Kertous Yohr, Jerome Yohr, Maylene Litton; her grandchildren: Paul (Katie) Yohr, Tony Yohr, Dawn Lee, Leah (Derek) Wynboom, Wade (Sarah) Yohr, Travis (Jasmin) Litton, Cory (Simona) Litton; 11 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in passing by her parents, her husband Arlyn; her siblings: Loretta Postel, Dorothy (Ernie) Rohr, Gertrude (John) Pope, Melvin (Marjorie) Schneiderwendt and Arnold (Lucille) Schneiderwendt Sr.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday May 23, 2024, at 11:00am at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri County Chapel, 1592 S Oneida Street, Fox Crossing. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 9:00am until the service begins. Alice will be entombed at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
