Alice Theresa Vercauteren, age 86, was called home by God on February 21, 2021. She was a woman of sincere and deep faith and is now in heaven with God and her loved ones.
Alice was born on October 28, 1934, to the late Margaret and John Sweere, who were immigrants from Holland. She was blessed with eleven siblings who have brought so much fun and happiness to her life. She always said she couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful family.
Alice volunteered at Salvation Army Food Pantry in Appleton for many years and at Ruby’s
Pantry in Greenville. She married Eugene Vercauteren on February 19, 1955, in Hilbert, at St. Mary Catholic Church. They were blessed with 8 children, 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren who were the pride and joy of their lives.
Alice is survived by her children: Pam (Stan) Dorn, Greg (Linda) Vercauteren, Vicki (Jim) Gresham, Kim (Jeff) Winterfeldt, Pat (Tim) Hackel, Tom (Sue) Vercauteren, Mary (Mark) McClure, and Randy (Michelle) Vercauteren, as well as her brothers and sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 2003, her parents, and 3 brothers.
Due to COVID-19, the funeral service will be delayed until 11:00 AM on Friday, June 18, 2021, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 105 N. Olk Street, Hortonville, WI 54944. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Ascension / St. Elizabeth Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, any donations will be given to Alice’s favorite charities.
