Alice T. Romenesko

Alice Therese Romenesko died on Thursday February 1, 2007. Alice was born August 20, 1914 to the late John W. and Odelia (Fries) Baumann in Mackville. Alice married Clem Romenesko on November 21, 1933 in Mackville, and celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary in 1999 shortly before Clem’s death. Alice and Clem settled in Kaukauna and purchased a farm in 1942, where they resided until 1957 when they moved to Appleton at their current address. Alice and Clem successfully owned and operated a livestock business, The Appleton Meat Packing Company and The Romenesko Mobile Home Park. Alice lived a long, fruitful life with an extensive family. In her later years, her eldest son, Ron was her caregiver and friend, taking her to all events, appointments, and church, as well as many performances at the Performing Arts Center, which Alice enjoyed to the utmost. Alice loved traveling, visiting all of the U.S., Canada and Europe. Alice was treated royally while visiting her daughter and family in Canada, and returned happy and refreshed. She also enjoyed her frequent trips to the east coast to visit her daughter where Newport, Rhode Island was her favorite.

She enjoyed spending time with her local family baking, visiting and shopping. Some of Alice’s interests, included reading, crafts, baking, watching Wheel of Fortune and the History Channel. Alice was a longtime member of the Christian Mothers Society.

Survivors include 9 children: Ron Romenesko, Appleton; Lee (Darlene) Romenesko, Little Chute; June Geiger, Appleton; Bonnie (Richard) Byford, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Del (Diane) Romenesko, Kernersville, N.C.; Dean Romenesko, Los Angeles, CA.; Neil Romenesko, Oshkosh; Bev Romenesko, Plainville, CT and Noreen (Tommie) Thomas, Appleton; 7 grandchildren: Bruce (Chris) Romenesko, Brenda (Joe) Nicolais, Joy (Jeff) Sim, Dawn (John H. Jr.) Grote, Sue Byford, Sarah Byford, and Sonya Schilcher; 8 great grandchildren: Jason and Brittany Romenesko, Stephanie and Aaron Nicolais, Christine Nelson, Lexi and Lia Sim and Sarah Grote; 2 great great grandchildren: Alex and Trevor Nelson. Alice is further survived by 2 brothers, Silver and Harold Baumann, and 2 sisters, Sister Mary Florian, and Mary (Leonard) Tennie. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Clem, a son Wenzel, a daughter Susan Marie, and a son-in-law Jack Geiger, 5 brothers, Frank, Cyril, John, Victor and Florian Baumann, 3 sisters, Lucille Fox, Helen Stingle and Phyllis Smits.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 P.M. on Monday and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7 P.M. on Monday.

Alice wanted a special thank you given to Fr. Falk, Sister Rose and Sister Betty at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
