Age 73, began her journey to a new life on Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Colony Oaks Care Center. Alice was born on February 26, 1928, daughter of Louis and Caroline (Werner) Salzmann. She married Frank Stein on August 5, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until he preceded her in death in 1995. Alice was a resident of Appleton for over 50 years. She was a wonderful mother, homemaker and also performed textile reweaving from her home. Alice is survived by three daughters, Sister Maria Dominica of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Corpus Christi Monastery, Rockford, IL; Micky Blair and special friend Darrell Bowers, Kaukauna; Cindy (Jim) Willison, Appleton; two sons, Greg Stein and special friend Dawn Wydeven, Appleton; Randy Stein, Appleton; a brother; four sisters, and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Tom J. Stein, two brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, Appleton, with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
