Alice Coenen, age 86, passed away peacefully on 2.22.22, at Theda Care Medical Center surrounded by her loving family at her side. Alice was born at home on March 3, 1935, daughter of the late Royal (Buck) & Anna (Hoks) Weyenberg. She attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, graduated from Kimberly High School, and lived in Kimberly her entire life. She married the love of her life, Marvin Coenen, on April 23, 1957, and they raised 2 children together. Alice & Marv worked sided by side for many years owning and operating Ace TV & Appliance in Kimberly and volunteered time to countless organizations within the Kimberly community. They were charitable with donations and often helped families in need by offering a gently used tv or a free repair. Alice was always willing to extend herself and her family to anyone who needed help. She volunteered at church and school events and was an active member of the Christian Mothers group at Holy Name. In her personal life, she was a devout Catholic having a devotion to the blessed Mother, Mary. She had a strong prayer life and offered sacrifices, prayers, and rosaries for her family & anyone who needed prayers. Alice also loved the outdoors, camping, cooking, canning, sewing & reading but mostly she cherishing time spent with her children, grandchildren & greats. In retirement, Alice enjoyed the Heart of the Valley Seniors group. Most recently, Alice lived at Hallmark Place and enjoyed the new & familiar friendships at the retirement community, playing cards & games, going for lunch, and enjoying the morning sunshine from her patio door.
Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Marv, her parents, her brothers Bob & Leo Weyenberg, and her sisters, Carol Weyenberg, Ramona (Ralph) Stark, and Diane Rohan. She is also preceded in death by her in-laws; Alphonse & Marcella (Hietpas) Coenen and a brother and sister in-law, Gerald & Shirley Coenen; and another brother in-law, Ben Mischler.
Alice is survived by her children, Mark Coenen of Kimberly & Charlene (Gary) Van Gheem of Appleton; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Kevin) Schneider, Alexandra (Scott) Blasczyk, & Austin Van Gheem; her Great grandchildren, Lucy Alice, Eleanor, & Corbin. Alice was especially proud that Lucy Alice was named after her but she deeply loved everyone of her family the same. Alice is survived by her loving sisters, Jane (Raymond) Menting, Betty Mischler, Julie Verstegen, Kathy (Richard) Peterson, and Rose (Merle) Hietpas, and also sister in-laws, Mary Weyenberg & Linda Weyenberg, & many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. A funeral visitation will also be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will be served after mass. Interment will be in St. John Nepomucene Cemetery on April 23, 2022.
