DINGLEY, ALDA F.
Alda Franciska Dingley, age 83, of Rome, New York, died on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Brewster Village, Appleton, Wisconsin. Alda was born on March 1, 1925, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Frans and Herlinda (Ibarra) Toren.
Alda was a graduate of the Holding Institute of Laredo, Texas, after which she attended Loredo Junior College. After college Alda was employed in accounting and business affairs while concurrently pursuing her passion for modeling, and eventually served as a Mental Hygiene Therapist for the Department of Developmental Disabilities for the State of New York for more than 20 years. Alda was a very strong and loving woman who dedicated her whole life to her sons. In addition to being a full-time loving mother, she enjoyed golfing, had a passion for cooking, and truly enjoyed sharing her wonderful food with her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Lester (Rosann) Kingsley, Appleton, Wisconsin; Michael Dingley (Chuck Rosenzweig), Knoxville, Tennessee; and Dennis (Catherine) Dingley, Centennial, Colorado; her five grandchildren, Stephen, Erik and Jeffrey Kingsley, Lauren (Benjamin) Huggins, Grace (Chad) Burns; her three great grandchildren: Benaiah, Gabrielle and Moses Huggins; her brothers, Oscar Toren, Pharr, Texas, and Odin Toren, San Antonio, Texas; and her sister, Ellen deTournillon, Miami, Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is further survived by her former husband, Alfred J. Dingley, Falls Church, Virginia.
A celebration of Alda's life will be held at 12:00 NOON on Monday, May 12, 2008 in the chapel at Brewster Village (3300 West Brewster Street) with Rev. John T. McFadden officiating. Friends will be received in the Community Center in Brewster Village from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service. A reception will follow the service.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and directors at The Rome Home in Rome, New York (especially MaryJo Kirk, Mary Grow and Linda Kimball), her physicians Dr. Antonio DiMarco, and Dr. Deborah Schultz; and the staff at Brewster Village, Appleton, Wisconsin, for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alda's name can be made to benefit The Rome Home (417 North Washington Street, Rome, New York 13440), a non-profit assisted living home where Alda resided prior to Brewster Village.
