Albert F. Muthig Jr., age 59, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 12, 1964, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the son of Albert Sr. and Carolyn (Ladnier) Muthig. He fought a long 6-year battle with colon cancer and gave it everything he had right to the very end. Never once did he let cancer define who he was. He worked everyday that he could up until these last 5 weeks. We all believe this is why he was given this gift of 6 years more with his family and friends. He will be remembered most for being the strongest person we know and being a hero to us and others.

Al entered the U.S. Navy in August of 1983, and was honorably discharged in February of 1993. He then went to work for Crystal Print in 1993, and then moved onto ProAmpac for over 20 years. Al loved his dogs, Razor, Chief, and Willie. He was a straightforward kind of guy, who would tell it like it is at all costs. You either loved him or hated him, no in between. He had no time for irresponsible people. If he wasn’t teasing you, he didn’t like you. It was his way of showing his love.

Al loved the Green Bay Packers. When he was in the service and couldn’t watch the games on the ship, he would have his close friend’s mom, Helen French, record all the games on VHS, so when he was home on leave, he could catch up (pre-internet). He also loved the Milwaukee Brewers, and he made it a goal to attend as many games as he could, including traveling to other stadiums to see them play. He attended their training camp in Arizona once. Josh Hader was his favorite player. Al also enjoyed watching and supporting the Bucks and Badgers. The Jump Around was on his “bucket list”, and his best friend Fred Luetschwager was able to make it happen at Camp Randall Stadium.

Al is survived by his mom: Carolyn Muthig; siblings: Francis and Sherry Muthig and Kathy (Nepolian) Phillips; son: Dillon Klapper; nieces and nephews: Jenny Dey-Jimenez, Tom Dey, Jon and Zach Linders, Skylar and Elias Phillips, and Sam Jimenez; childhood friends: Chad French and Fred Luetschwager; other relatives and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his father; paternal and maternal grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services for Al will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Tri-County Chapel, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with the Eulogies at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday at the Tri-County Chapel from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Shiocton on Friday with Full Military Honors at 1:00 pm.

Al’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bev. Luetschwager, Jane Fitzmaurice (Al’s favorite lady), and Jerry and Joanie (his neighbors), for all their love, support, and assistance over the years.

“You are relieved, we have the watch.”
