Age 91, died of heart failure with her children at her side at Brewster Village in Appleton on Monday, June 25. 2007. She was born in Appleton on January 3, 1916 the daughter of the late Max and Amelia (Spreeman) Gehrman. Agnes attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She graduated from Appleton (Morgan) High School. On June 9, 1934 she married her husband of 37 years, Norman Kneip. Norman preceded her in death in 1972. Agnes worked at The Union at Lawrence University for 25 years and later became a certified nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. She was proud to be the eldest C.N.A. graduate at the age of 55. Her retirement years were spent visiting her children around the globe and volunteering her time at St. Joseph Food Pantry and St. Joseph’s Parish Office.
Agnes is survived by her children: Barbara (Bob) Kunstman, Lee (special friend, JoAnn Leddy) Kneip, Mary (Paul) Foegen of Appleton; Janice (Sam) Taylor of Colorado Springs, CO, Lynne Satterlee of Appleton, Ann Mewshaw of Calabasas, CA, Christopher (special friend, Jo Ann Erdmann) Kneip of Appleton, and Jillian (Gary) Lallensack of Appleton; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon (Dorothy) Gehrman of Kimberly. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Kneip in 2003; sisters: Mary, Judy and Helen; and her brothers: Max, Clarence and Herman.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, with Fr. David Belongea officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega.
The family expresses a special thank you to the staff at Brewster Village for all of their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Agnes’ name is being established for retired clergy and nuns.
