Loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 99, died Monday, May 20, 2002. Agnes was born on September 11, 1902 in Oshkosh, WI, daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Winklebauer) Schiessl. She was the last surviving member of nine siblings in her family. Agnes married Walter Balthazor on February 13, 1925, and together they raised three daughters and two sons. Walter preceded her in death in 1967. She was employed at the Outagamie County Courthouse for 26 years. Agnes loved to crochet, and would create doilies and afghans for family and friends. Her other hobbies included gardening, baking and reading. Agnes was a member of the Christian Mothers Society at St. Joseph, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She also volunteered in the school cafeteria at St. Joseph. Agnes is survived by three daughters, Muriel Krablean, and her daughter, Cindy Jones; Charmaine (Ed) Gregerson, and her children, Lynda, Barbara, Jeff and Michael; Joan Vance, and her children, Pat, Paul and Susan; and her son, Gordon Balthazor, and his children, Keith, Kurt and Mickey. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and her loving dog Snuggles. She was preceded in death by her son, William; and 2 son-in-laws, Donald Krablean and Bruce Vance. The Funeral Mass will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street, Appleton with Fr. John Holly officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. The family would like to extend special thanks to Brenda and Louise for their loving care of Agnes. Agnes was a hardworking, loving woman, with a great sense of humor, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
