Adrain Hermus

Bill Hermus, age 89, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Bill was born in Kaukauna on June 3, 1918, son of the late Cornelius and Anna (VerGowan) Hermus. When Bill was young, his family operated a dairy farm near Oneida. As a young man, he began to drive milk truck as well as working on neighboring farms. In early 1951, he began working at the Kimberly Clark Mill in Kimberly, and remained employed there for many years. In May of 1951, he married the former Evelyn Gengler at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. Bill enjoyed outdoor activities, especially gardening. He also enjoyed bowling, bike riding, and playing cards with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife: Evelyn Hermus of Kimberly; three daughters: Nancy (Sam) Sullivan of Oceanside, California; Joyce (Mike) Elter of Bremerton, Washington; and Alice (Jerry) Sell of Menasha; three sons: Jeff Hermus of Kaukauna; Steven Hermus of Oshkosh and his friend Donna; and Charles Hermus of Little Chute and his friend Pam; six grandchildren: Eric Hermus, Patrick Hermus, Michelle (Mike) Low, Jerry Sell, III, Jolene Sell, and Stacey Sell; a great-granddaughter: Jessica Hermus; a brother: John (Tillie) Hermus of Seymour; four sisters: Mary Vanden Heuvel of Green Bay; Antoinette Van Handel of Kimberly; Theresa Linsmeyer of Seymour; and Rose (Harold) Hendricks of Bonduel; two sisters-in-law: Jean Hermus of DePere and Alice Miller of Las Vegas; a brother-in-law: Edward Klarner of Kimberly; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Anton and James Hermus; sisters: Nellie (Sam) Weller, Cora (George) Van Cuyk, Anna (Willard) Vanden Heuvel, Betty Klarner, Josephine Hermus, and Jane Hermus; four brothers-in-law: Norbert Vanden Heuvel, Clarence Van Handel, Joseph Linsmeyer, and Roger Miller; and a sister-in-law: Dolores Van Eperen.

The funeral liturgy for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, with Fr. Kenneth Frozena officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service.
