Adell Ann Bernal, 90, passed away on October 14, 2021. She was born to James “Max” and Grace Bos on September 22, 1931, in Spooner, WI.
Adell was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and spent her days raising her children. When they were older, she started working at Manderfield’s Bakery until her retirement, making life-long friends with her coworkers. Everywhere she went, she would make friends for life. Adell kept busy with many hobbies, particularly all kinds of crafts, ceramics, gardening, baking, and cooking. She loved decorating the house for every season and holiday. She was very involved in the church, first at Our Redeemer Lutheran, then St. Timothy’s in Menasha. Every time there were volunteers needed, Adell was sure to be there. Her grandchildren were so important to her, supporting them in all their hobbies and activities. Adell would ask them to “come see me again,” as she could never have enough time with her family.
Adell was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Bernal; son, Marvin DeVries; and parents, James “Max” and Grace Bos.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Jeff) Luko, Luann (Jim) Landers, and Michael DeVries; grandchildren, Nicole Hughes, Stacy (Tylen) Rathsack, Courtney (Fiance Andy) Zima, Seth (Fiancee Claudia) Crain, Jennifer (Rocco) Elrod, Kyle Davis, Joshua DeVries, and Jordan Devries; great-grandchildren, Tad, Isaac, Hayden, Zander, Hanna, Max, Addison, and Rocco; and great-great-grandchildren, Ari and Liam.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, starting at 4:00 PM at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St, Menasha. A service will begin at 5:30 PM following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Fox Valley Memory Project.
