Ada M. Wenzel

Formerly of Kaukauna, passed away after a brief illness on September 13, 2002 in Appleton at the age of 92. Ada was born June 6, 1910 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Robert and Ida (Remter) Schubring. She attended Trinity Ev. Lutheran Elementary School and Kaukauna High School, and on September 29, 1934 married Hugo O. Wenzel. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1997. Hugo and Ada were longtime and faithful members of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church where Ada was active with the Ladies Aid. Many will remember the couples’ huge vegetable garden which Hugo took such good care of. Of course, Ada canned and froze produce for her family and friends.

She is survived by her son: Carl (Marion) Wenzel of Appleton; three grandchildren: Laurie (Craig) Johnson of Appleton and their daughter Elise; Christine Wenzel of Scottsdale, AZ; and Kevin Wenzel of Phoenix, AZ; and a brother-in-law: Rinert “Dick” (Eva) Wenzel of Kaukauna, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Edna Schubring, brothers Elmer “Sam” (Leone) Schubring, Ruben (Hilda) Schubring, and Orville (Mildred) Schubring, as well as by Hugo’s brothers and sisters: Walter (Edna) Wenzel, Clarence (Lorraine) Wenzel, Marvin Wenzel, Burgetta (Ervin) Koch, and Mildred (Orville) Schubring.

Funeral services for Ada will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Ronald Raddatz officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 – 7 PM and again Tuesday at the church after 10 AM.

Ada was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her only great-granddaughter, Elise, was the apple of her eye – she thought the world of her. Ada’s greatest joys came from spending time with her family, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
