Corinne Neujahr, age 87, of Appleton, passed away at Fox River Assisted Living on Friday, June 21, 2013. Corinne was born on September 9, 1925, in Mission, South Dakota, to the late John and Cora (Roehl) Larson. She married William “Bill” Neujahr on June 4, 1946, in Mission, South Dakota; he preceded her in death on August 15, 2000. Corinne taught in Lutheran elementary schools in Lomira and Appleton. She later was employed as a life underwriter at AAL until her retirement. The church was a primary focus of Corinne's life. As a long-time member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, she was an active volunteer in a variety of programs and projects. Corinne was a volunteer at the Pregnancy Counseling Center and cross-stitched a great many baptismal napkins for St. Matthew. She enjoyed bowling and gardening, and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan.
Survivors include her six children, Cathy (Darwin) Tiede, Appleton; David (Jane) Neujahr, Hartland, Wisconsin; Paul Neujahr, Appleton; Ruth (Doug) Marquardt, Sherwood; James (Julie) Neujahr, Appleton; and Cora Lisa (Tom) Schultz, Neenah; her grandchildren, Matthew Tiede, Sarah (Timothy) Somers, Michael Tiede, Philip (Courtney) Neujahr, Eric Neujahr, Lee Neujahr, Caitlin Weihing, Juliane (Derek) Such, Sandra (Joshua) Russow, Michael Marquardt, Morgan Kobussen-Schultz, Jacob, Emily and Sophie Schultz, Joel Neujahr, Jonathon Neujahr, Joshua Neujahr, and Johanna Neujahr; her great-grandchildren, Isaac and Amber Russow, and Harrison Such; her brother, Neal (Gertrude) Larson; her sister, Noma Sazama; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Brandenburg, Elvira Boucher, Merna (Robert) Ocken and Opal Neujahr. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Corinne was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce (Harry) Mulder, her son-in-law, Glenn Kobussen, and her brother-in-law, George Sazama.
Funeral services for Corinne will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason Street, Appleton, with Rev. Thomas Mielke officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church and Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
